Doom 2: France In Hell!

Does anyone have any idea why the japanese Doom 2 strategy guide is called FRANCE IN HELL?.

Update: Found an explaination, it appears they fucked up at the printing/translation factory in Japan, the japanese characters for "The Dead" also happens to mean "France". It could also possibly mean Buddha in Hell hmmm.

Some crazy dude makes a 6h30min complete playthrough of Chips Challenge.

Just randomly found this when searching around for old games to try on my 486. Never realized how goddamn long this game was back when we used to play it in school.

Much respect to TTDLX who did the playthrough, he must have the patience of a tibetan monk!.

Virus - Dr. Mario prototype dumped.

"Virus is a prototype that eventually mutated into Dr. Mario.

It was found installed in an otherwise unremarkable PlayChoice-10 arcade cabinet in 2012, which was likely used to playtest new NES games at a Chuck E. Cheese's restaurant at one point."

New Pac-Man port for Atari 2600 blows the original version out of the water.

Original Version ---^

The new port ---^

As you can see it's totally different from the original, and how the original version should have been!.

"Dennis Debro sought to create an adaptation of Pac-Man more faithful than Atari's 1982 version for the VCS. Utilizing the same 4K memory limit as the original, Dennis' game is a feat of programming that finally brings Pac-Man to the Atari 2600 as it was intended."

Some interesting recent ventures in emulation on the Xbox 1.

It's pretty fun to see that coders are still trying to push as much out of the Xbox as possible. The two latest projects from the last half year for the Xbox has been a port of the 3DO emulator 4DO and the Atari Jaguar emulator Virtual Jaguar.

Many of the old emulators for the Xbox are also being perfected, N64 emulation on the Xbox is still superior to N64 emulation on the Wii for example.

It's 2012 and the Playstation 2 is still alive.

It's 2012 and the Playstation 2 is still being kept alive on life support by the release of two football games, it will be interesting to see if it will survive into 2013 thus beating the Neogeo.

It would be fun if Brazil started producing PS2 games so we could get some real games at the very end like other long lasting consoles got (come on Tectoy!).

Two SD adapters in the works, one for Psx and one for Dc!.

Sometimes thing's come out almost at the same time, maybe it's cause fpgas and hardware has become much cheaper in recent years.

Dknute is working on a Dreamcast SD adapter that will be far superior to the halfassed chinese SD adapter from past year that played games choppily, so finally there will be a real replacement for the gd-drive. You can follow his progress here: http://dknute.livejournal.com/

And then the PSIO team is working on a SD adapter for the good ol' Psx that you can follow here: http://psio.com.au

Let's not forget that the russians made a adapter for the 3DO half a year ago:
http://3do-renovation.ru/3DO_IDE_adapter.htm

So now it's almost just the Sega Saturn left! (and PCFX,CD32,Fmtowns,PcEngine,JagCD,NGCD,Pippin,Megacd,Cdi)

Pier Solar hacked and dumped.

Pier Solar has now been hacked and dumped to work in a special version of Mess. I will not post it here since i'm sure you guys can find it on your own, i'm more interested in who did it and how.

Through some google detective work we find a site created just some days ago called http://hackpiersolar.com/ it's already gone and www.archive.org doesn't have the page saved, but google cache has it!:

https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache%3Ahackpiersolar.com%2F%3Fpage_id%3D6&sugexp=chrome,mod&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

That's alot of text only to have it deleted some days later, but now we have a back story which is always fun for scene history.

dem0 has released a program called MAH BOI that adds keyboard support to the cd-i emu (yes the emu only has mouse support!).

NBA Jam proto with swearing released by Nintendoplayer.

"Truly, this has to be the most ridiculous “prototype” Nintendo Player has gone through yet. Nothing’s quite as surreal as hearing Kitzrow yell out, “Grabs his Johnson!” on the Super Nintendo as secret character, Bill Clinton, makes a frantic grab for the ball while letting out a series of digitized grunts."

Get that shit outta here!

BLACKOUT! - New commercially released Jaguar game.

"BLACKOUT! Is officially released and ready for purchase! For the moment we only have 23 copies available (out of the planned 25 due to bad chips). If these copies do well, we will do a second release of 25 carts, and then a third larger release for CD. Followed by the free binary release!.

We personally dont believe in releasing a certain number of hard copies and then not making it available to download for those that have missed out and causing people to resell releases for insane prices. Hence the free release later on."

Japanese nude model easter egg found inside Clockwork Knight 2.

(action begins around 0:58, have annotations on for translation)

The Japanese version of Clockwork Knights 2 contains a hidden area where you encounter the Japanese nude model Nakayama Hiroko & Tamamura from the Famitsu magazine!.

Ritz AKA Prinsdam who posted the video on youtube writes: "This could only have happened on the 4th of July, same day the discovery of the Higgs Boson was announced.

Cutscenes are only available in the original Japanese release (Pepperouchau Daiboken Gekan, they're replaced with Ginger's dialogue from the other secret exit in Fukubukuro).

To enter the secret room, do a running jump over the wall and immediately move to the left, otherwise you'll fall straight through and land on a lower platform. The box takes you back to the main course.

Playing on Normal mode gets you the girl (apparently an idol at the time with a full-nude photobook!), Hard mode for the guy.

Thanks to Peter O'Hanlon for scanning the relevant page from the strategy guide, and Michael Stearns (and his nubile sidekick Mark) for translating it and the dialogue"

Pictures of Golgo 13 for CD-i surfaces.

A user called CRTdrone has posted a few pictures of the extremely rare cd-i Golgo 13 game on flickr, it appears to be some sort of visual novel game so I wouldn't expect much action.

This game and Cyber Soldier Sharaku are the rarest cd-i games since they were only released in Japan by a company called JIM, there are a few other kids titles by JIM which has been dumped though.

Mr Nutz 2 released for Megadrive.

"Ocean released in 1994 another game on the Amiga under the name Mr. Nutz: Hoppin' Mad.

Developed by Neon Studios, it featured the same titular character but with different, faster and more wide-open gameplay, unrelated levels and enemies, another story, and a large overworld map instead of a linear path to follow in a mini-map.

This game was also going to be released for the Sega Mega Drive in 1995 as Mr Nutz 2, but it got shelved. A playable build exist, leaked in the form of source code and compiled upon."

Grab it here:

Ronaldinho Soccer 64 released.

Armageddon dumped for 3DO.

I thought i'd make a note of this, it's not a unreleased game but just quite a rare one since it was only released in South Korea, it was dumped a month or so ago.

Now there's only about 4 other exclusive Asian games left to be dumped. Eye of typhoon(PC version floating around, still not dumped for 3DO), Oilman (extremely rare japanese promotional game) and eh...yeah theres some more but I don't quite remember.

Treasure of The Caribbean & Bang Bang Busters released.

Two new Neogeo releases from about two months ago, both fairly mediocre but we never thank no to new dumps!

Just throw:

bbbuster.zip
totcarib.zip

Into google and you'll find 'em.

CHELNOV! - Complete unreleased game for the Saturn.

"A port to the Sega Saturn was planned, but was never released to consumers. A version of this port appeared in the Tokyo Game Show and several game stores in Akihabara around 1997, but was cancelled for unknown reasons. The content was a direct port of the arcade version and therefore completely different to the Mega Drive/Genesis port."

Released by the good folks of sega-saturn.net , they even made some nice covers for it. Grab it at the bottom of this page -> http://www.sega-saturn.net/chelnov/chelnov.htm

Why does Japan not have a established Pirate Party?.

You know it's a bit odd that there's no registered Pirate Party in Japan. Right now they might be heading into worse times than most European countries when it comes to piracy http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2012/06/japan-download-copyright-law/
Even watching a damn youtube video in Japan will get you into trouble now!.

The best thing I could find was this weaksauce attempt at facebook https://www.facebook.com/piratepartyjapan they better get their shit together or their freedoms will be slowly (or rapidly) be taken from them.

Meanwhile In Kazakhstan:

Reboot 2012.

Time to reboot this broken blog. Since being away alot of filelockers have been purged in the great fascist anti-sharing wave of early January, thus probably most of the links in old posts are dead.

Most of the stuff should be able to be found on places like undergroundgamer so i wouldn't worry too much about that though.

I'm going to stretch out a bit and post about not only prototype releases but just a little bit of everything that interest me, like world happenings, politics, religion and just nongaming stuff in general, though obscure gaming is still going to be the core of my posts.
